It was mid-afternoon on March 6, 2019. I was sitting at my desk editing a few recent photo shoots and I received a call. I knew from the second I answered the phone that this call was different. I wasn't sure where it was going to lead me, but I knew in my gut that something amazing was happening.
I listened as the caller introduced herself, "My name is Andrea Gomes. I first want to tell you that this is not like me to call. I typically would email in regards to questions I may have for your services, however, I felt compelled to call you directly so that is what I am doing." She began to tell me of whom she was and her testimony. She was a mom, a wife, and an author of her life. She had been through so many trials and battles throughout her lifetime but she found great strength through her deepest heartaches.
On December 24, 2015, her entire world came to a screeching halt. She and her family unexpectedly lost her oldest 14-year-old daughter. Her daughter became ill very quickly and soon passed. At this same time, Andrea was battling cancer cells and was anticipating surgery herself at this very time. As she was telling me her testimony I literally could not speak a word. I listened with tear-filled eyes as she continued to speak volumes to me. I gasped for words to offer as comfort and was wondering how and why I fit into this remarkable women's story of courage and the strength that she gained through God during her time of complete devastation.
She continued to talk and I soon realized that she was reaching out because she wanted/needed someone who could document her journey, her smiles through her tears. She had a very vivid vision of exactly what she was looking for and was reaching out to see if I may be able to help her achieve that vision through my lens. She wanted the shoot to reflect exactly whom she and her girls were. Strong, independent followers of God living his words and speaking to others about the hardships and how to use those times to lean on God and grow stronger in his spirit. I knew that this was something I wanted and was meant to be a part of.
Andrea is an Author, Motivational Speaker, and CEO. She is currently in the process of publishing her testimony Butterfly Cycles Of Faith (will be releasing VERY soon!), and her younger two girls are working on a podcast in which they will talk about their journeys and how they have overcome their obstacles.
After our phone conversation, my mind was racing with my own visions on how to make this session come to life for them. I wanted the images to speak volumes and I certainly did not want to let them down.
Soon after our phone consultation, we met and discussed our plan of action. I created a vision board and spent many hours detailing exactly how to make her visions come to life.
Yesterday evening was go time. We shot for THREE REMARKABLE HOURS and I kid you not, the first 30 minutes of our photoshoot began with a butterfly following the girls around everywhere they went...
This is only the beginning of our journey... Stay tuned for more, and don't forget to follow Andrea HERE!
