I am a professional. I shoot photography as a living. I am trained, and have a lot of knowledge in my craft from shooting to editing. I shoot with professional gear, and carry backup gear to ensure I capture those memories that I am paid to get. This equipment is expensive and wears out quickly with the amount of use it gets from my hands. The camera and physical gear is just the start of the equipment that I use. Computers, hard drives, fireproof safes (to store your images in), are all things I invest in to run the business I run. I am licensed and insured (as mandatory by many venues.) I have a paid team that helps me achieve my vision for each session. I shoot in RAW format which delivers highest quality images, however those images have to be edited with special software to be converted to Jpeg for your computer to recognize and read them. I have a website, and overhead. I am legal! I pay taxes, and am a certified legal business. I spend many many hours a week marketing so that I can stay in business, and attend networking meetings, open houses and business expos consistently to remain on top of my game. Most of which cost money to attend. For every 200 images I take (typical portrait session) it takes me 10-12 hours behind the computer editing and preparing them for you. I do not "cull" images. I feel strongly that my clients are paying me to document those memories and it is my job to deliver them all. On an average full day Wedding I deliver right around 2000 images, give or take. Do the math. That's a lot of time behind the computer, away from my family, doing what I absolutely love to do and am gifted at doing. This is all part of my job and all hours and expenses that I must account for when pricing my business. I CAN NOT imagine doing anything else nor running my business any other way than I do, however, I feel so discouraged when I see so many whom simply do not understand. Digital has changed my industry. There will ALWAYS be someone out there that has a camera and shoots on the side for a little bit of extra cash. I am sure that those people can -and will- deliver a few images that are "ok" from your session or wedding day, however what about the remainder? That moment in your life was important enough to you to "hire" someone to document it for you. Do you invest in a professional that has knowledge and skill in their craft or do you choose to invest a "little bit" of money into someone whom has a camera and may get you a few good images? I guarantee that I will deliver ALL the memories of your session or day. I am that confident and passionate about what I do. Memories, especially on weddings, that can not be recreated. Moments that you have paid and entrusted me to document for you. I'm not in this to make a fortune. I charge the absolute least I can and still make what I need to make to continue to do this as my profession. This is my passion. This is my job but most of all this is YOUR memories!
To all of those that value and see my talent and the heart and time I put into my business, THANK YOU! It is a very hard industry to survive in this day and time. You guys are my rock!
